Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic Projects & Fulfillment Operations Manager to lead our transition to in-house fulfillment operations while maintaining excellence in supplier relationships and quality control. This hybrid role combines strategic procurement oversight with hands-on management of fulfillment operations, requiring someone who understands both premium manufacturing standards and efficient order fulfillment processes.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Relations & Procurement (25%)
• Primary Point of Contact: Manage relationships with manufacturing partners
• Purchase Order Management: Execute PO placement, track production schedules, and manage delivery timelines
• Production Coordination: Communicate production updates, resolve manufacturing issues, and ensure on-time delivery
• Vendor Performance: Monitor supplier quality, delivery performance, and cost effectiveness
• Demand Forecasting: Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to forecast product demand and align procurement with growth cycles
Quality Control & Standards (25%)
• Incoming Inspection: Establish and oversee QC processes for brass hardware including finish quality, dimensional accuracy, and craftsmanship standards
• Standards Documentation: Create and maintain quality specifications for all product lines and finishes • Defect Management: Investigate quality issues, coordinate with suppliers on corrective actions, and manage product recalls if necessary
• Customer Quality Feedback: Analyze return patterns and customer complaints to identify quality improvement opportunities
Fulfillment Operations Management (35%)
• Daily Operations: Oversee order processing, inventory management, picking, packing, and shipping operations
• Team Leadership: Manage, train, and schedule 4-6 part-time fulfillment staff
• Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels, coordinate reorder schedules, and manage seasonal demand fluctuations
• Returns Processing: Manage returns processing, including restocking, quality inspection, and customer coordination
• Packaging Standards: Develop protective packaging solutions for brass hardware to prevent damage during shipping
• Shipping Optimization: Manage carrier relationships and optimize shipping methods for heavy/valuable items
Process Improvement & Systems Management (10%)
• KPI Tracking: Monitor and report on inventory turnover, fulfillment accuracy, shipping times, and customer satisfaction
• Process Optimization: Identify operational bottlenecks and implement efficiency improvements
• Technology Development: Evaluate, implement, and optimize WMS/ERP platforms suited to current and future fulfillment volume
• System Integration: Work with partners or consultants to develop automations or integrations (e.g. Shopify, shipping platforms, QuickBooks)
• SOP Development: Create cross-training documentation and standard operating procedures that allow team scalability
• Cost Management: Track operational costs and identify opportunities for efficiency gains
Facility & Safety Oversight (5%)
• Facility Management: Ensure facility layout supports efficient flow and safe operations
• Equipment Coordination: Coordinate with service providers for equipment maintenance (racking, lifts, security, HVAC)
• Safety Compliance: Implement safety protocols, team training, and OSHA compliance measures
• Space Planning: Plan facility modifications to support business growth and operational efficiency
Required Qualifications
Experience Requirements
• 3+ years operations management experience, preferably in manufacturing or premium consumer goods
• 2+ years supplier relationship management and procurement experience
• Experience managing teams of 5+ employees, including hiring, training, and performance management
• Quality control background in manufacturing or high-value product environments
Industry Knowledge
• Materials expertise preferred: Understanding of metals, brass alloys, or finishing processes
• Premium product experience: Managing operations for high-value, quality-sensitive products ($350 AOV, often $2k+)
• Manufacturing familiarity: Knowledge of production processes, lead times, and supplier dynamics
Technical Skills
• ERP/WMS Systems: Experience with inventory management and warehouse management software; ability to evaluate and implement new platforms • Data Analysis: Proficiency in Excel, ability to create reports and analyze operational metrics
• Project Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate cross-functional initiatives
• Technology Integration: Experience working with e-commerce platforms, shipping software, and business system integrations

• B2B sales support experience working with contractors, designers, or trade professionals
• Lean manufacturing or process improvement certification
• Multi-channel fulfillment experience (B2B and B2C)

Success Metrics (90-Day Expectations)
• Inventory Accuracy: Achieve 98%+ inventory accuracy within the fulfillment center
• Order Fulfillment: Establish same-day processing for 95% of orders received by 2 PM
• Quality Standards: Implement incoming QC process with documented standards for all product lines
• Team Development: Successfully hire and train initial fulfillment team members
• Supplier Relations: Establish regular communication cadence with top 5 suppliers
• Process Documentation: Create SOPs for all key fulfillment and QC processes
Reporting Structure
• Reports to: Operations Director/Partner
• Direct Reports: 4-6 part-time fulfillment associates (to be hired)
• Cross-functional collaboration: Design team, customer service, and marketing
Location & Schedule
• Full-time, on-site position at Tradition Hardware fulfillment center in Orem, Utah
• Standard business hours with flexibility during peak seasons or supplier coordination needs
• Occasional travel for supplier visits or trade shows (< 10%)
