Overview
Bring sophistication and elegance to your kitchen island with the Concord Post—an original design by Tradition Hardware. With its extendable design, you can easily customize its height to fit your island. Made with solid brass tubing, our island legs are very sturdy and installation is a breeze.

  • Solid brass tubing – 2.5mm wall thickness
  • Installation screws included (for wood applications)

Choosing the Correct Size
We have three height options to choose from: Short, Standard, and Tall. Take the measurement from your floor to the underside of your countertop overhang, and select the corresponding size.

Our legs are designed to fit spaces that measure strictly within these ranges:

  • Short: 30.5"–33.75"
  • Standard: 33.5"–36.75"
  • Tall: 35.5"–38.75"

NOTE: There is a small overlap between each of the leg sizes. If your measurement falls within this overlap, select the larger size leg. For example, if the measurement from your floor to the underside of your countertop overhang is equal to 33.6", select size Standard.

How It Works & Installation

Concord Post Installation Guide PDF

The Concord Post features adjustable ends with hidden threading, allowing you to extend or retract the post to fit your space perfectly. It's secured to the floor and the underside of your countertop using two 1/8" thick mounting plates.

The method you use to install each of the mounting plates will depend on the material of your floor and countertop. We ship our island legs with wood screws, although if your floor or countertop material is not wood, you will need to obtain the correct type of fasteners for your installation (i.e. for tile, vinyl, concrete, etc). Fasteners can be obtained from any local or online hardware store. Always pre-drill before driving screws into wood.

To install the mounting plate to granite, quartz, marble, or similar countertop material, we recommend using a silicone construction adhesive. The center of the mounting plate is slightly recessed to allow better adhesion to the surface. Use a clamp to hold the plate in place while the adhesive cures.

Make sure the mounting plates are installed level and plumb to each other.

Once the mounting plates are installed, rotate the adjustable ends to shorten the leg to fit between the plates. Slip the bottom of the leg over the floor plate to seat it in place. Rotate the adjustable ends to extend the post until it fits snugly over the countertop plate. Do not over-tighten—this could damage your countertop.

Important Note on Unlacquered Finishes

✨ Check out our guide to Understanding Unlacquered Brass Patina.

Unlacquered brass finishes are often referred to as ‘living finishes.’ Without a lacquer coating, the brass will naturally take on a beautiful aged patina over time. The rate at which this occurs can be affected by a number of factors from handling to humidity, and could vary slightly among hardware pieces.

For unlacquered polished brass, our most popular finish, use a brass polish to restore it to its original shine. Do NOT use brass polish on unlacquered aged brass—it can damage the aged finish.

Material & Finishes

Unlacquered Polished Brass UNLACQUERED POLISHED BRASS
Our most popular finish. Solid brass polished to a high-shine and left unsealed. With no lacquer coating, the brass will naturally patina over time.
Polished Brass (Lacquered) POLISHED BRASS (LACQUERED)
COMING SOON! Solid brass polished to a high-shine and clear-coated to maintain its glossy brightness and warmth.
Aged Brass (Lacquered) AGED BRASS (LACQUERED)
Lightly textured brass with a moderate patina and matte finish. It's sealed to preserve its appearance over time.
Unlacquered Aged Brass UNLACQUERED AGED BRASS
COMING SOON! Lightly textured brass with a moderate patina and matte finish, left unsealed. This finish will patina and darken further over time. Do NOT use brass polish on unlacquered aged brass—it can damage the aged finish.
Polished Nickel POLISHED NICKEL
Nickel-plated brass polished to a high-shine and sealed, making it highly resistant to tarnishing.
Matte Black MATTE BLACK
A stable, non-reactive coating that will protect your brass hardware. It's a matte finish with a lightly stippled appearance.

Care & Cleaning

Use mild soap and water and a soft cloth (we recommend microfiber) to clean your brass hardware. For unlacquered brass finishes, this will not remove its patina. Avoid using harsh chemicals and abrasive cloths or pads.

Keep in mind that unlacquered polished brass naturally develops a patina over time, which enhances its natural beauty. To remove patina and restore unlacquered polished brass to its original shine, use a brass polish and microfiber cloth. After polishing, it will begin to patina again over time just as it did before.

Installation

We always recommend pre-drilling holes for installing hardware.

Drilling screws straight into wood without a pilot hole can cause the wood to split, especially with hardwoods like oak or maple. Without pre-drilling, you also have the risk of breaking off the screw's head.

Exposed screws made of brass are not as robust as steel screws. As such, we recommend using a hand screwdriver (rather than an electric drill) in addition to a pilot hole.

Pre-drilling helps keep hardware aligned and evenly spaced, reducing installation mistakes.

When pre-drilling for exposed screws, use a drill bit that is slightly smaller than the diameter of the screw's thread.
